KSI v Tommy Fury: YouTuber regrets behaviour at news conference

KSI has apologised for ugly scenes at his news conference with Tommy Fury, but said he always aims to learn from his mistakes.

KSI aimed a homophobic taunt at John Fury after being repeatedly insulted by him.

"There's so many things I wish I didn't do," he said when asked about the fight build-up and his YouTube career.

"But it's just life. When I make a mistake, I learn from it and I improve.

"I want my audience to understand that and just get better over time."

Earlier this year KSI apologised for using an derogatory ethnic slur.

KSI, real name Olajide Olayinka, fights 24-year-old Tommy Fury in a six-round cruiserweight bout at the AO Arena in Manchester.

The event is not licensed by the British Boxing Board of Control and 30-year-old KSI does not hold a pro licence in the UK. This will be his sixth fight, although not all of them have been officially sanctioned.

Fury, a Love Island runner-up and brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has won all nine of his professional fights.

The event's safety and heath standards are overseen by the Professional Boxing Association.

On Thursday, the news conference was marred by a brawl between YouTuber Logan Paul and mixed martial artist Dillon Danis, and a barrage of insults exchanged between the fighters.

Bottles were thrown on to stage by unidentified people on the side of the stage and Paul was left with blood coming from his face after a melee with Danis.

KSI suggested Misfits, a promotional company headed by himself, had reprimanded fighters in the past for bad behaviour and may do so again after Thursday's scenes.

"It's one of those things where we're making sure we keep the integrity of boxing," he claimed.

"The whole situation, yeah it can definitely get a bit hairy. It can a bit lively.

"But that is just how things are with Misfits. Sometimes you can't control people. We set everything up to be as smooth as possible, but we can't control what Dillon Danis is going to do.

"We can't control what John Fury is going to say and do. These are random things that just happen.

"For us, we want to make a nice good show and make it entertaining."

On Wednesday at the open workouts, KSI spat at John Fury after he threw a bottle at him.

Asked about that incident, KSI said: "I spat my chewing gum out. Yes, obviously [I regret that], that's not how I am.

"Outside of this boxing industry, I'm a very calm, chill guy. Adrenaline is up, obviously it's fight week. Everyone is getting rowdy.

"Yeah, I felt like he disrespected me throwing the water bottle at me.

"So I disrespected him back, but outside of this that's not how I am and that's not what I would do."

The Londoner says wants to learn from his errors.

"I'm a role model. I've got legacy tattooed on my back," he said.

"It's the most important thing to me. I'm a human being. I'm going to do wrong, I'm going to do wrong, I'm going to do right. I'm not perfect.

"But I want people to look at me and be inspired."
