Mr Wale, who now lives in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, told Radio WM: "I genuinely can't believe it, I'm lost for words, it's so overwhelming.
"I left with £5 and that was it, I was content with that I accepted it so I was never expecting something like this.
"I feel honoured, blessed and guilty at the same time."
MND is an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves and causes weakness that worsens over time.
The NHS said there was currently no cure for MND, however treatment can help to reduce the impact on a patient's day to day life.
