Pamela Anderson and Jon Peters have split up after just 12 days of marriage.

The Baywatch actor and Hollywood producer tied the knot in a private ceremony in Malibu, California on 20 January.

Now, in a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter, Anderson has confirmed she and Peters are separating for the time being and will not formalise their marriage certificate.

“I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon and my union,” the 52-year-old began.

“We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another.”

She added: “Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalisation of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process. Thank you for respecting our privacy.”

The news comes one week after Anderson shared a photograph of her and Peters on her Instagram Story featuring the two of them smiling together in a living room.

Anderson posted another photograph of the couple on Twitter that was taken in 1989.

The photo shows Peters and Anderson, who were together at the time, holding hands as they attended the premiere for war film Glory, starring Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes and Morgan Freeman.

Anderson captioned her tweet “Pamela Peters,” in reference to her union with her then-new husband.

The nuptials with Peters marked Anderson’s fifth marriage. She was previously married to musician Tommy Lee from 1995 to 1998 and shares two adult sons with him.

Anderson was also married to singer-songwriter Kid Rock from 2006 until 2007 and married poker player Rick Salomon twice.
