Fans of Nando’s will be glad to hear that the chain restaurant is reopening its doors at 10 sites across England from Wednesday 8 July.
On Saturday 4 July, several businesses, including pubs, restaurants and hairdressers, were allowed to fully reopen to customers for the first time since lockdown, with safety measures put in place to protect against Covid-19.
Nando’s closed all of its restaurants in March in response to the coronavirus pandemic, eventually allowing customers to make orders for delivery and collection.
After three months, diners will finally be able to dine in Nando’s restaurants in 10 locations across England, with each restaurant operating under a reduced capacity so customers and staff can follow social distancing guidelines.
Instead of queueing up at the till to order their food, as is typical in Nando’s restaurants, customers will instead join a virtual queue from their seats, ordering and paying for their food via their phone using a QR code and mobile app.
Drinks, cutlery, sauces and napkins will be brought directly to the tables by a staff member, as opposed to being left on separate tables for customers to fetch themselves.
Nando’s warns that as the restaurants will be operating with fewer tables, waiting times could take longer than usual.
“If demand is particularly high then customers needn’t worry as online click and collect and home delivery and will still be available,” the company states.
Tables will seat a maximum of six people. When your table is ready, you will be greeted by a staff member at the door of the restaurant, who will provide you with hand sanitiser and guide you to your table.
The tables, chairs and floor will be cleaned after each use, and recyclable, disposable menus will be offered to customers from which they can make their food and drink choices.
While some of the menu’s typical options will not be available, the restaurant reassures that “the majority of Nandos’ favourites such as Peri-Peri chicken wings, halloumi and Peri chips will still be available”.
”Each Nando’s restaurant has been working under increased government guidelines for the past weeks on top of their existing health and safety procedures serving delivery and online click and collect customers,” the restaurant states.
“Every member of the team has been washing their hands even 20 minutes while maintaining social distance during shifts.”
