NEW DELHI: At least 21 people were killed and 112 were wounded in shelling in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv in the last 24 hours, regional governor Oleg Synegubov said on Wednesday.
The authorities have said that Russian missile attacks hit the centre of Ukraine's second-largest city, including residential areas and the regional administration building.
An Indian medical student of Kharkiv National Medical University in Ukraine died in Russian shelling on Tuesday morning. Naveen SG from Karnataka was a fourth-year medical student.
“With profound sorrow we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The ministry is in touch with his family,” MEA spokesman Arindam Bagchi confirmed the news on Twitter on Tuesday.
According to Naveen’s friends, the students went in batches to buy food when the curfew was lifted between 3pm and 6am.
