After weeks of teaser trailers and enigmatic Instagram posts, Beyoncé has finally dropped her much-anticipated visual album, Black Is King which, as well as being a powerful love song to the black experience, watches like an A to Z of the fashion industry's greatest designers.

The album, which is based on the music of The Lion King: The Gift curated by Beyoncé in last year’s live-action remake, also features the sounds of Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Pharrell and even Blue Ivy Carter.

And, when the first trailer for the album was released earlier this month, a whole host of other famous faces were spotted in the clip with appearances from actor Lupita Nyong’o and supermodels Naomi Campbell and Adut Akech.

But aside from the blockbuster line-up, the trailer gave members of the BeyHive – the singer’s superfans – a glimpse at what we’ve already come to expect from a Beyoncé visual, some seriously incredible fashion moments.

With costume design for the entire project lead by Beyoncé’s personal stylist, Zerina Akers, who is also the curator and founder of business platform Black Owned Everything, the hour-plus-long video serves up countless looks from fashion industry greats including Gucci, Molly Goddard and Burberry.

Among the many memorable fashion moments to appear on the screen, is one shot that shows Beyoncé wearing a Marine Serre catsuit embellished with the brand’s iconic crescent moon print. A look that, just one year earlier, Beyoncé wore while attending the Warriors-Rockets game with Jay-Z, pairing it with a patent leather trench coat and Matrix-style tiny sunglasses.

Later in the film, Beyoncé wears a lavish floral gown to what must be the world’s most exclusive tea party, with guests including the singer’s mother, Tina Knowles, and former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland.

The gown, which was designed by British luxury label Erdem as part of its autumn 2019 collection, is adorned with pink, purple and red flowers and accessorised with lavender opera gloves and a pair of tiny red glasses.

Other notable pieces include a cow-print two-piece designed by Burberry and a pair of chunky Christian Louboutin crystal sandals, as well as a custom Valentino couture sequined leopard print catsuit.
