COIMBATORE:Indian students in Ukraine are a worried lot after the recent bombings by Russia. Universities there have suspended regular classes and switched to online mode.
According to Jinovince, 27, a final year medical student of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, Russia has launched missile attacks on Kyivand other cities. “The people of Ukraine are scared. They have asked the Indian students to be careful. Nearly 30 students had returned to Ukraine from India and some of them are planning to move to neighbouring countries such as Moldova and Hungary,” said the student from Trivandrum, Kerala.
Jinovince said the Ukraine government had implemented night curfew fro m 11pm to 5am. "I am in an apartment in Vinnytsia and the city is safe now. I can hear the air raid sirens twice or thrice aday. More than three lakh p eople on the border areas of Ukraine have moved to Vinnytsia and there are no vacant apartments for Indian students. They can stay only at the university hostel. In Kyiv, normal life is affected badly." If Russi a were to target Vinnytsia, Jinovince said he would move to Hungary or Moldova. "I can reach the border with the help of my bike or car."
According to sources, Navaneetha Sriram, 22, of Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, and his three friends — all final year students of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University — had reached Vinnytsia four days ago. Read More
