Beauty influencer and YouTuber Ethan Peters, also known as Ethan Is Supreme, has died at the age of 17.
On Sunday, Ethan’s father, Gerald Peters, confirmed the death of his son in a statement to Fox News.
“The cancel culture we find ourself [sic] in weighed heavy on his heart," Gerald said.
“He wanted nothing but to inspire, make people laugh and push the boundaries of what is acceptable in our world for all young people.
“He was [a] kind soul, who accepted everyone for who they were.”
Gerald added that Ethan was struggling with drug addiction, but his official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
A number of online personalities have paid tribute to Ethan, including his friend Ava Louise, who shared a photo on Instagram of them posing together in swimsuits.
“We had our last FaceTime call last night and I am so so so sorry I cut it short. I can’t breathe. This is the worst pain I ever felt,” she wrote in the caption.
“Ethan saw me through my lows and celebrated my highs with me. He was so much more than what you all saw online. His amazing parents have been parents to me when mine haven’t been the best, so please respect their privacy at this time.”
Ava Louise also claimed on Twitter that she “had to pull Ethan aside in recent weeks and have talks with him” regarding his drug usage, saying that a week ago he told her he “wanted help”.
“Everyone close to him was scared. I just wish I f***ing tried harder,” she wrote before encouraging anyone struggling with addition to seek help.
Other beauty influencers also paid tribute to the YouTuber, including Manny MUA, Tana Mongeau and Jeffree Star.
“Rest in peace ethan. You were so incredibly talented at such a young age,” Manny MUA wrote on Twitter.
“I pray for his family and loved ones, a horrible loss.”
Jeffree Star added in a video shared online: “Yesterday the makeup community lost someone: Ethan Is Supreme.
“It’s been a tough week emotionally.”
Tana Mongeau also shared a post on her Instagram story, writing: “RIP angel. My heart goes out to his family and friends. If u need anything reach out please [sic].”
Ethan had more than half a million Instagram followers and 139,000 YouTube subscribers. The 17-year-old had also recently launched a clothing line called Hellboy.
