Hillary Clinton has praised Nancy Pelosi’s pantsuit and matching mask after the House Speaker wore the coordinated outfit to work amid the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday, Clinton shared a photo of Pelosi, 80, on Instagram, where the highest-ranking female elected official could be seen wearing a light pink pantsuit and light pink mask.
“Leader of the House majority, and of mask-to-pantsuit colour coordination: Nancy Pelosi,” the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee captioned the photo.
The photo prompted an outpouring of support for Pelosi’s pink outfit.
“Smart, powerful and stylish,” one person wrote.
Another commented: “This caught my eye too! She is a living legend.”
Others applauded the display of female support, with one person writing: “Icons supporting icons.”
“Love seeing women supporting other women,” someone else wrote.
This is not the first time the House Speaker has opted for a colour-coordinated outfit. Last week, during a weekly news conference at the US Capitol, Pelosi wore a blue dress with a matching facial covering made using a blue paisley scarf, while she chose a white pantsuit and white-and-blue checked mask during a news briefing in April.
Clinton’s praise of Pelosi’s outfit comes after the 72-year-old politician revealed in her 2017 memoir What Happened that pantsuits make her “feel professional and ready to go”.
Explaining that she decided to “do and wear more or less the same thing every day” like male politicians, Clinton said that pantsuits also allowed her to avoid wardrobe malfunctions and keep the focus on what she was saying instead of her outfit.
Earlier this month, the politician showed off her own face covering on Instagram with a photo of herself wearing a mask that read: “Vote.”
“No makeup? No pantsuit? No problem,” Clinton wrote in the caption. ”I’ve got the must-have accessory for spring. I’m wearing a mask (and voting!) for my country, my community, and my grandchildren.”
