A tearful Serrano, in a hoodie and sporting sunglasses, says: “I came ready to fight 100 per cent, I came to show my best and put on a great fight, but the doctor didn’t clear me – due to something to do with my eye.

“The doctor didn’t clear me to fight, and I wanted to fight in front of my people. I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart.

“I can barely see out of my eye.”

Serrano adds that she wants to retire in Puerto Rico one day.

Paul: “Amanda came to fight, put in a hard camp ... [but] she was failing some eye tests. Her cornea is exposed, you can’t risk losing your eyesight forever. I know she’s a warrior. This happened very last minute.”

Paul adds that this saga began 36 hours ago, give or take.

Well, that was comprehensive. Paul was never once in trouble. A second straight first-round stoppage of a pro boxer.

Of course, some will debate the pedigree of Bourland and Andre August, whom Paul knocked out in December, but there is some merit to these wins.
