Bryant – who won five championships – was one of the NBA’s most popular players. His death has rocked the world, with tributes pouring in from the worlds of sport, politics and entertainment.

“My reaction is the same as almost all of LA,” the Oscar-winning actor said. ”Where we think everything’s solid, there’s a big hole in the wall. I was used to seeing and talking to Kobe that… it kills you. It’s just a terrible event.”
Nicholson recalled meeting Bryant for the first time in New York , an encounter that saw him “tease” the sportsman.
