Lewis Hamilton has dismissed speculation over a possible move to Ferrari, insisting Mercedes is his “dream team”.
The six-time Formula One world champion’s contract with Mercedes expires at the end of 2020 and he had been repeatedly linked with a move to Ferrari prior the coronavirus pandemic.
However, after a newspaper headline suggested his hope of a “mega-money Ferrari move”, with Sebastian Vettel now set to sign a new contract with the manufacturer, Hamilton took to Instagram to dismiss the speculation.
“First off, there is no dream of a dash to another team. I am with my dream team,” Hamilton said in a since deleted comment.
“Second, there’s not a thing in my way as I’m not trying to move. I’m with the people who have cared from day 1. We are the best team! @mercedesamgf1.”
Mercedes have won the last six successive drivers and constructors’ titles, with Hamilton aiming to match Michael Schumacher’s record of seven when the F1 season resumes.
