Follow all the action as the second day of The Masters gets underway at Augusta, following a dramatic opening round which saw Justin Rose surge to a four-shot lead thanks to an spectacular round of 65 on Thursday.
After making two bogies in his opening seven holes, Rose suddenly found a golden touch as he went nine under through his next 11 to take the clubhouse lead ahead of Brian Harman and Hideki Matsuyama (both -3).
It was a chastening opening day for some of the pre-tournament favourites, however, with Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy both struggling. The big-hitting American carded a 4-over-par 76, while McIlroy shot the same score in an error-strewn round that also saw the Northern Irishman hit his own father with a wayward shot. Both of those players have work to do if they are to make the cut, with the lowest 50 players making it to the weekend.
Elsewhere, players will be jostling for position in an attempt to make up ground on Rose. Jordan Spieth, Shane Lowry and Tyrell Hatton are six shots back at -1, while defending champion Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bob MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood and Matthew Fitzpatrick are in a group further behind at +2.

THE MASTERS 2021: SPIETH BOUNCES BACK AT 13
Jordan Spieth dropped a shot at the par-3th after finding the front bunker but he responds instantly at the 13th. An errant drive forced him to lay up but a great pitch ensures him of a birdie. He’s at -3. Meanwhile, a fine birdie at up ahead at 15 sees Fleetwood go back into the red.

THE MASTERS 2021: SMITH EAGLES 13
Cameron Smith is another player with a terrific record at Augusta, finishing second last year, and he’s moved into second this year, too. The Australian eagles the par-5 13th to go seven under for his round.

THE MASTERS 2021: CHAMP BURSTS INTO CONTENTION

THE MASTERS 2021: THOMAS MOVES TO -4
Thomas continues his charge up the leaderboard. A magnificent 189-yard approach into the par-5 13th left 11ft for eagle. The putt grazed the outside of the hole but it’s a simple tap-in birdie. He’s now just two behind.

THE MASTERS 2021: ROSE HOLES ANOTHER
Rose has done brilliantly to shake off what was a very ropey start to his second round. He holes a 19ft putt at the par-3 16th to move back to where he started at seven-under-par, despite making the turn in 39.

THE MASTERS 2021: THOMAS ADVANCES AS FLEETWOOD FLOUNDERS
The favourites are starting to make their presence felt on the leaderboard now. This time it’s Thomas, who follows up a birdie at 11 with a magnificent tee-shot at the par-3 12th. The Players Champion is now four-under-par for his round and is yet to card a bogey. Not such great news for Fleetwood, though. His attempt to reach the par-5 13th comes-a-cropper, tumbling into Rae’s Creek, and a bogey sees him fall back to level par for the tournament.

THE MASTERS 2021: SPIETH MOVES TO -3
Jordan Spieth has been very steady today, making the turn in 35, and grabs a second birdie at the 10th. His drive left him perfectly positioned for a gentle fade in towards the flag and the ball obliged. The 2015 champion is now just three back.

THE MASTERS 2021: FINAU BURSTS INTO LIFE
Tony Finau has a great record at Augusta, with a 10th-place finish in 2018 and a 5th-place finish in 2019, and he’s making a serious charge up the leaderboard again. The American has birdied four of his last five holes, the most recent courtesy of a magnificent approach at the 10th, and he’s now just two shots off the lead.

THE MASTERS 2021: ROSE BACK ON FORM
This is much better from Rose. After his birdie at the 13th, a perfect drive allows him to attack the flag at 14. It’s not exquisite, leaving himself 23ft, but the putt is and that’s two in a row for the Englishman. He’s back to six-under and just one-over for the day.
