57 mins: Newcastle were just building a decent attack. They move the ball around the back and then up to the left. Joelinton tries to send Almiron in behind with a one touch pass but gives the ball away to Williams instead.

54 mins: Joelinton fins Shelvey just outside the box and he snaps at a shot and pulls it wide of goal.

48 mins: Liverpool win a corner and whip it into the box. Bentaleb is marking van Dijk who shoves him aside and wins the header. It's not as well directed as his first half attempt and Dubravka stops the shot.

Second half: We're back underway at St James' Park.

45 mins: Four minutes of added time to play in the first half.

42 mins: Liverpool growing in confidence now. Gini Wijnaldum holds on to the ball in midfield before finding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Ox turns towards goal and shoots, the ball continues rising and misses to the left of goal.

30 mins: Newcastle are defending deep and attacking on the counter attack. Almiron gets sent forward down the left wing. He whips a cross into the box , there's only Dwight Gayle in the area and he's surrounded by defenders. Joe Gomez heads it clear.

27 mins: A fine effort from Minamino outside the box forces Dubravka into a diving save to his right. He pushes it past the post and out for a corner. It's swung into the box but Dwight Gayle heads it out for Newcastle.

24 mins: Origi has a go for goal from just outside the box but Fernandes blocks the shot. Neco Williams looks to create some space on the right side of the box but Almiron nicks the ball off him before he can shoot.

21 mins: Bentaleb gets a bit of treatment after picking up a knock but he'll be okay to continue.

18 mins: Almiron makes a run down the left wing, Williams sprints back to stop the run and Newcastle switch the play. Shelvey makes a run into the box from the right but Alisson claims the ball as Saint-Maximin plays it into the area..

15 mins: Minamino tries to emulate Keita's run, he drops his shoulder and runs across the edge of the box from left to right. Neco Williams finds some space on the right side but Minamino is tackled just as he was about to pass him the ball.

12 mins: Origi receives the ball out on the left wing. He passes it inside to Keita who drives forward, steps over the ball oce or twice, beats two defenders and gets into the box. He takes a touch before he shoots and the ball runs away from him so Dubravka smothers it.
