Andy Murray and Dan Evans return to action following their stunning opening win in the men’s doubles, with Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz also resuming their double-act.
On Sunday, Murray extended his tennis career with a stunning comeback with Evans against Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel, saving five match points to advance to the second round of his final tennis tournament.
This could still be the final match of Murray’s career and while they claimed a spirited victory on Sunday night, Murray and Evans both said they will need to play better if they are to advance.
Nadal was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles on Monday and his Olympic hopes now rest with Alcaraz in the doubles. The Spanish pair won their opening match and delighted a packed Court Philippe Chatrier with a 7-6 (4) 6-4 win over Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni.
In the singles, Britain’s Jack Draper is in action against Taylor Fritz while Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff take to Court Philppe-Chatrier to continue their campaigns.
The tennis competition started Saturday 27 July and runs for just over a week to Sunday 4 August, and there will be gold medals for men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles events.
