Rory McIlroy remains in contention for a third US PGA title at Oak Hill, but trails the leading group by five.
Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland and Corey Conners held the lead at the halfway point at five under. Bryson DeChambeau is a further two behind, with Brooks Koepka on three under, and McIlroy managed to not find himself adrift after he his 69 to reach level par. Defending champion Justin Thomas made the cut, but John Rahm struggled and England’s US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick missed it by one.
Scheffley and Conners hit two-under 68s and Hovland hit a 67, but Koepka’s round of 66 matches the best of the tournament so far, along with first-round leader DeChambeau. Masters runner-up Brooks Koepka was alongside England’s Callum Tarren on two under thanks to a 66 which included four birdies in the last seven holes.

Fast start for Fleetwood
Fleetwood +2 (3), Reed +3 (3)
Tommy Fleetwood is another strong iron player and could well be one to watch. He shows just why that’s the case as he hits his second at the second to just four feet. A tap-in birdie and a par at the third sees him at +2.
His playing partner Patrick Reed has also started steadily with three pars in his opening three.

Morikawa and Scott underway
Morikawa (+1), Scott (+2)
We’ve still got just over two hours until the leaders head off so we’ll get back to those on the course for now. Just teeing off is 2020 champion Colin Morikawa alongside veteran Aussie Adam Scott. It’s the latter who has plenty of work to do straight away as he pulls his opening drive into the right rough.

Who can stop Scottie?
Scheffler (-5), Conners (-5) - 7:50pm BST
Our final pairing later today sees major champion Scottie Scheffler tee off with Canada’s Corey Connors. Scheffler may be tied for the lead but is the heavy bookies’ favourite, speaking to his incredible performance level over the last 18 months. If he gets going in this final round, it will be a tall order for anyone to catch him.
Corey Conners is not the world’s best putter but it’s no surprise to see him near the top of the leaderboard on a course like Oak Hill which demands accurate strokeplay. In that category, he’s one of the best and could well be a surprise winner if he can put together another two solid rounds.

Back-to-back bogeys for Rahm
Rahm +8 (9)
Rahm got a huge slice of luck with his drive on the eighth but still made bogey. A hole later and he is in trouble again. It’s another bogey, a front-nine 39 and he sits at +8. Not good.

Hatton birdies 12
Hatton +5 (12)
The Englishman has been knocking on the door for a couple of holes but sinks a long, 35-foot putt for his birdie. Back to level par for his round today.

Hovland in contention yet again
Hovland (-5), Suh (-3) - 7:40pm BST
Viktor Hovland is making a really good habit of playing well in the majors. He finished T4 at The Open last summer and T7 at last month’s Masters and he now finds himself in a tie for the lead after two rounds here in Rochester. In his previous two attempts, the Norwegian has faded towards the end - he’ll be hoping to learn from those experiences and remain in the hunt until the very end.
He’ll be playing alongside young American Justin Suh who is enjoying a great year on the PGA Tour and has made just two bogeys in his opening two rounds.

Slice of luck for Rahm
Rahm +6 (7)
The Spaniard gets in all sorts of trouble off the tee and there is a lengthy search for his ball. It seems to have gone into the parking lot but he gets a free drop as the area isn’t technically ruled as out of bounds. A well-struck iron out of the thick rough gets him up around the green with a chance of a birdie.

LIV stars in contention
DeChambeau (-3), Koepka(-2) - 7:30pm BST
LIV Golf is yet to have one of their players win a major but they’ve got two of their biggest stars well-placed after two rounds. Brooks Koepka finished third at the Masters and is in contention once more after a very solid start.
He’ll be playing with Bryson DeChambeau who has battled injury and illness to return to this point. A four-under-par first round was followed with a 71 yesterday and the big-hitting American is just two off the lead.

Club pro Michael Block targets history
Rose (-1), Block (E) - 7:10pm BST
The PGA Championship field is well-known for the many club pros up and down America who are able to qualify and compete in the tournament.
And compete is certainly what Micheal Block has done so far. The 46-year-old is based out of California but after a remarkable first two rounds finds himself inside the top ten and just five shots off the lead.
He’ll tee off later on alongside England’s Justin Rose who is well placed at one under par.

Birdie-bogey start for Mastuyama
Homa +4 (2), Matsuyama +3 (2)
Hideki finds himself in the greenside bunker with his approach in and he’s unable to get up and down to save his par. Back to +3 for him after his opening-hole birdie. Homa taps in for his par and remains at four over.
