Almost 10 years ago, the world watched as Prince William and Kate Middleton were married in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Having met while studying at university, the royal pair got married on 29 April 2011 – an event that was watched by 17.6 million people in the UK, and 2 billion globally.

William’s younger brother Prince Harry was his best man and reportedly had the crowds entertained with his speech, despite being made to cut one line out, according to the Mirror.

Prince Harry’s girlfriend at the time, Chelsy Davy, reportedly made the then-26-year-old cut out a line that referenced Kate’s “killer legs” to avoid embarrassing the new bride.

As best man, Harry reportedly donned a fez and at one point stood on a table while delivering his best man’s speech.

He said his brother William did not possess “a romantic bone in his body” until he met Kate. Harry also reportedly did an impression of William calling Kate “Babykins”.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl wrote in the biography, Harry: Life, Loss, and Love: “The speech was peppered with Harry’s classic sense of humour, and he ribbed his brother: ‘William didn’t have a romantic bone in his body before he met Kate, so I knew it was serious when William suddenly started cooing down the phone at Kate.’”

Prince Harry also attended the wedding with an injury after a late-night mishap on the eve of the big day.

He and groom-to-be William had some drinks at the Goring Hotel the night before the wedding, on Wiliam’s last night as a “single” man.

When leaving the venue at 3am before returning to Clarence House, eight hours before the ceremony began, Harry jumped off one of the hotel’s balconies and landed badly on his ankle.

At the wedding, he could be seen walking with a slight limp due to the injury.
