Kingsley Coman scored the decisive goal as Bayern Munich defeated PSG 1-0 in a gripping Champions League final in Lisbon.

A cagey, high-quality first half saw both teams come close to a breakthrough, with Robert Lewandowski striking the woodwork after Neymar had forced Manuel Neuer into a great save at his near post.

But it was the former PSG academy graduate, Coman, who came back to haunt his old club. Having had a penalty appeal waved away on the brink of half time, the winger broke free of the struggling Thilo Kehrer at the far post and headed home Joshua Kimmich’s pinpoint cross.

PSG chased the game with increasing desperation as the minutes wore on, but it was to no avail, with Bayern standing firm in defence to lift the trophy for the first time since 2013.

Here are our player ratings from the game:

    Paris Saint-Germain

Navas – 6: Made a number of good reflex saves and could do very little to prevent Coman’s goal.

Kehrer - 4: Struggled constantly with the pace of Coman on the wing, almost gave away a penalty, and consistently failed to track his man at the far post.

Silva – 6: Was very solid in defence and made a crucial block to stop Coman in the second half.

Kimpembe – 5: Was caught out while attempting to play out of his own box on the brink of half time, but otherwise dealt well with pressure.

Bernat – 5: His life was made easier by Gnabry’s keenness to track back in defence. Failed to make an impact going forwards.

Marquinhos – 6: Guarded and tackled well in front of the defence.

Herrera – 6: Commanded the tempo well in the first half and actually became a creative heartbeat of the team, but his influence faded in the second half.

Paredes – 5: Dictated play very well in the first half and found Mbappe in space repeatedly with brilliant crossfield through balls. Lost his composure after the break.

Neymar – 5: Failed to impose himself on the game, missing a great chance in the first half, and couldn’t flick the switch in the second half when his side desperately needed it.

Di Maria – 6: Missed a tricky chance on his weaker foot, but was a constant threat going forwards and almost created an equaliser with a brilliant nutmeg pass.

Mbappe – 5: Struggled to make his mark on the game for large periods. Was always dangerous when able to run at Bayern’s defence, but missed a great chance on the brink of half time.

    Bayern Munich

Neuer – 7: Made a great save to deny Neymar in the first half, and then again in the second from Marquinhos, and swept well with Bayern’s defence playing such a high line.

Kimmich – 7: A brilliant cross for Coman’s winner. Struggled, inevitably, at times with the pace of Mbappe cutting inside in the first half, but recovered brilliantly and handled himself very assuredly.

Boateng – N/A: Carried a muscle injury into the game and was unable to shake it off, ultimately being replaced by Niklas Sule after just 25 minutes.

Alaba – 7: Was very composed throughout, and covered well for Davies on those occasions when the full-back was caught out of position.

Davies – 6: Picked up an early yellow card after a reckless foul on Kehrer in the first half, forcing him to be cautious throughout, and wasn’t as incisive charging forwards as usual. Recovered very well in the second half.

Goretzka – 6: A robust presence barrelling from box-to-box, tackled effectively, and guarded the defence well.

Thiago – 7: Had more touches and held possession for longer than any other player on the pitch, dictating the tempo of the game, and linking between attack and defence with brilliant passes.

Muller – 6: Failed to find the pockets of space he often drifts into, with PSG suppressing his creativity effectively.

Coman – 8: Threatened incessantly in one-on-one situations against Kehrer, almost won a penalty at the end of the first half, and headed home the crucial opener. Almost added a second with another brilliant far-post run.

Gnabry – 6: Was arguably more effective in tracking back to help stifle Mbappe. Played his role tirelessly and effectively, even if his usual menace going forwards wasn’t as apparent.

Lewandowski – 6: Turned brilliantly for a snapshot in the first half that rattled the post. Was unlucky not to win a penalty late on.
