    Recent analysis from Cornwall Insight suggests that the energy price cap will hit £3,554 a year in October.

    For comparison, the average household energy bill in the UK came to around £1,400 annually in October 2021.

    On top of this, the price cap will be updated once again in January 2023 and is forecast to reach £4,266, according to Cornwall Insight.

    Combined with inflation and the meagre returns from the state pension, older Britons continue to be one of the demographics most at risk during the cost of living crisis.
