Most of North America is suitable for a wide expansion of the invasive box tree moth, recent research suggests. Native to East Asia, the moth is known for chowing down on boxwood plants of the buxus genus, stripping their foliage, munching on their bark and even killing them. The moth has been spreading widely throughout Europe since 2007 and was first spotted in North America in Toronto in 2018.
