The BBC's director general says the new social media guidance is "clear" and "thoughtful".
The corporation announced an independent review of its social media rules after Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker tweeted criticism of the government back in March.
Following the publication of the new rules, Lineker responded on X, formerly Twitter, by saying they were "all very sensible".
