    Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos on a long-term contract.

    The Reds have moved swiftly to bolster their ranks in the position, having had a bid rejected for Norwich City’s Jamal Lewis over the weekend.

    A fee of around £11.75 million is expected to have been enough to land Tsimikas, who will wear the No. 21 shirt at Anfield.

    Bristol City have appointed Dean Holden as their new head coach.

    Holden was assistant to former boss Lee Johnson and took caretaker charge of their final five matches of the Championship season.

    The 40-year-old will be assisted by Keith Downing and Paul Simpson.

    Manchester City have signed United States World Cup winner Sam Mewis ahead of the start of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League season.

    The 27-year-old midfielder, who has 67 caps and 18 international goals to her name, has joined from North Carolina Courage in the US National Women’s Soccer League.

    “The opportunity came along at a really great time – as soon as I heard about the chance of coming to play for Manchester City, I was immediately interested,” said Mewis, who played six of the USA’s seven matches en route to last summer’s World Cup win.

    Jadon Sancho will play for Borussia Dortmund next season, according to the club’s sporting director, despite Manchester United’s interest in the winger

    Michael Zorc told journalists at Dortmund’s training camp in Switzerland that Sancho would stay at Signal Iduna Park for the 2020-21 season and that decision was ‘final’.

    Zorc also claimed that Sancho’s contract – previously believed to have two years left to run – was extended by a further year last summer until 2023.

    But now it appears as if Dortmund are content to retain the England forward with United unwilling to meet the £108m asking price.

    Kazenga Lua Lua has committed his future to Luton Town by signing a new contract after inspiring their escape from relegation.

    The 29-year-old said: “There was never any question I wasn’t going to re-sign. I love it at Luton and I couldn’t leave it as late as last year!
